    Evolution of electromagnetic and Dirac perturbations around a black hole in Horava gravity

    The evolution of electromagnetic and Dirac perturbations in the spacetime geometry of Kehagias-Sfetsos(KS) black hole in the deformed Horava-Lifshitz(HL) gravity is investigated and the associated quasinormal modes are evaluated using time domain integration and WKB methods. We find a considerable deviation in the nature of field evolution in HL theory from that in the Schwarzschild spacetime and QNMs region extends over a longer time in HL theory before the power-law tail decay begins. The dependence of the field evolution on the HL parameter α\alpha are studied. In the time domain picture we find that the length of QNM region increases with α\alpha. But the late time decay of field follows the same power-law tail behavior as in the case of Schwarzschild black hole.Comment: The article was fully rewritten, references added, to appear in MPL

    Integrating Digital Literacy Skills and Technological Intelligence in the Higher Education Curriculum of India: A New Paradigm

    Background: The twenty-first-century learners can be termed as digital natives and therefore, any discussion on the pedagogies and curriculum must concentrate on integrating digital literacy skills and the teaching and learning materials must focus on the development of the technological intelligence of the learners. The principal appre-hension for all the educationists and curriculum planners is how to transform and modify higher education for preparing the learners of this century to more effectively cope with the challenges of today’s labor market. Purpose: The paper aims to answer two key questions facing higher educational educators are those of: (i) what is the present status of higher education in preparing the graduates with the necessary skills and competencies for 21st-century skills, and (ii) how can the present education system integrate the digital and technological intelligence in the curriculum? Methods: Exploration of the current Indian higher education cur-riculum and critically analyzing the results of various studies con-ducted in a similar area and by analyzing newspapers, educational policies, public survey results, and literature regarding the trends and developments in the higher education academia. Results: This disposition visualized the possible challenges and suggests practical measures to solve the problems and demand for a new paradigm where there is symbiotic integration of digital literacy skills and technological intelligence is highlighted. Conclusion: There is a great need for updating and transforming the curriculum and pedagogic approaches in tune with the learning styles and demands of the learners

    Neighbor Balanced Block Designs for Two Factors

    The concept of Neighbor Balanced Block (NBB) designs is defined for the experimental situation where the treatments are combinations of levels of two factors and only one of the factors exhibits a neighbor effect. Methods of constructing complete NBB designs for two factors in a plot that is strongly neighbor balanced for one factor are obtained. These designs are variance balanced for estimating the direct effects of contrasts pertaining to combinations of levels of both the factors. An incomplete NBB design for two factors is also presented and is found to be partially variance balanced with three associate classes

    Marine fin and shellfish farming is an age old practice across the globe to augment the seafood production and to supplement the protein rich food. The open sea cages are particularly advantageous for maintaining the brood stock of potential species like cobia (Rachycentron canadum) and silver pompano (Trachinotus blochii) for captive breeding. A large congregation of various bioresources are also found to be associated with cage farming (Imelda et al., 2010).
